Community Humanitarian Response (ChR)
Community Humanitarian Response (ChR) is V-Aid’s flagship community programme, bringing together volunteers, charities, businesses and local organisations to provide practical humanitarian support where it is needed most.
Whether preparing emergency meals, producing emergency candles, assembling dignity packs or supporting local community initiatives, ChR enables communities to work together to help people facing hardship, crisis and disadvantage.
By combining practical action with local partnerships, we create stronger communities while ensuring support reaches those who need it most.
Bringing Communities Together
At the heart of Community Humanitarian Response is collaboration.
We work alongside community centres, charities, local authorities, veterans’ organisations, faith groups, businesses and volunteers to identify local needs and deliver practical solutions.
Rather than working alone, we believe communities are strongest when they work together, sharing skills, resources and experience to make a genuine difference.
Practical Support That Changes Lives
Community Humanitarian Response brings together many of V-Aid’s humanitarian programmes under one coordinated approach.
This includes:
- Preparing emergency meals.
- Producing Packs of Dignity.
- Manufacturing emergency candles.
- Supporting veterans and vulnerable people.
- Preparing humanitarian aid.
- Responding to local emergencies.
- Developing new community projects where needs arise.
Every activity is driven by one simple aim—to provide practical support with dignity, compassion and respect.
Working Alongside Local Communities
Our volunteers don’t wait for people to come to us—we go to them.
Through community centres, outreach events and trusted local partnerships, we deliver support directly into the communities we serve.
This approach helps us understand local needs while building long-term relationships that strengthen resilience and encourage communities to support one another.
Building Stronger Communities
Everyone has something to offer.
You can support Community Humanitarian Response by:
- Volunteering your time.
- Joining one of our community projects.
- Donating food, clothing or essential supplies.
- Supporting fundraising events.
- Offering professional skills or expertise.
- Becoming a community partner.
- Helping organise local collections and events.
Every contribution, no matter how large or small, helps us reach more people and strengthen more communities.
Our Impact
Community Humanitarian Response is more than a programme—it’s a growing movement of people working together to improve lives.
Every meal prepared, every dignity pack assembled, every emergency candle produced and every volunteer who joins us contributes towards building stronger, more resilient communities.
By connecting people, sharing resources and working in partnership, we are creating practical humanitarian support that has a lasting impact across South Wales and beyond.
Together, we are proving that communities really can help communities.
