Who we are
So Who Are We?
V-Aid is a humanitarian charity dedicated to providing essential food and disaster relief worldwide, while empowering veterans.
We understand the unique synergy of using military and emergency services veterans to deliver fast, effective emergency food relief to those in need.
Our mission is to respond quickly to emergencies, tackle food insecurity, and offer life-saving assistance to communities in crisis. Together with a team of dedicated volunteers and professionals, we work tirelessly to create a world where those in crisis have access to nutritious victuals and support when it is in most needed.
And What We Do?
In addition to delivering rapid emergency food relief, we take a double-edged approach by supporting those we engage to assist others—whether veterans, civilians, retirees, employed individuals, or inmates. Through specialised training programs, we empower them to make meaningful contributions to humanitarian efforts and become skilled responders.
We are focused on providing fast, efficient relief, but we’re equally committed to creating long-term solutions. Wherever possible, we collaborate with partner organisations and charities to build sustainable first responder food systems capable of withstanding future challenges. Our priority is to work with others when it enhances the impact of aid, and we consistently follow this guiding principle.
In a disaster, we prioritise providing assistance not only to victims but also to responders, as it is essential for their effectiveness. This ethos extends to everyone we engage, whether they are on the front lines of a disaster or producing our emergency food parcels while incarcerated.
V-i-C-e-R (Veteran & Inmate Crisis Emergency Response) programs include:
V-i-C (Veterans in Crisis): Veterans in crisis can access one of our emergency parcels through veterans’ hubs or support groups across the UK.
V-i-R (Vulnerable Inmates Response): Vulnerable inmates leaving Swansea prison without any support in place can receive a 3-day emergency parcel containing food and hygiene essentials to help them through the critical days between release and securing further assistance.
V-f-R (Vulnerable Families Response): Families of inmates, who for any reason require immediate food and basic necessities, can receive urgent support through this program.
E-r-P (Emergency Response Parcels): Freeze Dried Ingredient parcels are to be stored for use by V-Aid and its partners responding to disasters/emergencies in the UK and abroad
Our Humanitarian Response training programs for inmate, veteran, and civilian volunteers to build a bank of volunteers who can assist not just V-Aid but other humanitarian aid partners to bring relief to those in desperate need.
Internationally, we will continue to collaborate with UK and global partners in Ukraine and other regions to provide essential food and humanitarian aid to those in greatest need, alongside our ongoing efforts with our UK partners to deliver vehicles, food, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid to our partners in Eastern Ukraine, while working on our joint food projects.”
Our freeze-dried emergency food parcels enable our trained responders to provide immediate food aid upon arrival, while they assess the situation and coordinate with partners and locals, the logistics of establishing small to large-scale emergency kitchens. By leveraging at first local resources and volunteers, they ensure operations run at maximum efficiency, while also training those who will manage the ongoing food aid, allowing the team to move on to more remote areas in need.
And this is just the beginning!
